Exhibition Requirements

You may also download the requirements.

The Orillia Museum of Art & History requires that all Exhibition Proposals contain the following:

1. Cover letter
2. Artist statement
3. Current Curriculum Vitae
4. Maximum of 20 labeled slides and/or photographs on a data CD
5. Corresponding slide list
6. Relevant support material
7. Self-addressed stamped envelope with proper return postage

1. Address the cover letter to The OMAH Exhibition Committee. This is essentially a letter of introduction, which also contains your current mailing address and contact numbers.

2. The artist statement should indicate the media, technique, theme or context or your artwork. It should also address any specific technical or spatial requirements regarding the installation of your work. Please limit this to 1-2 pages.

3. Include a current copy of your CV or artist resume, listing your exhibition history and educational background. This should not exceed 2 pages.

4. Include a maximum of twenty 35mm slides or photographs on a data CD. All slides should be labeled with your name, title of your artwork, corresponding number to the slide or photograph list, and a red dot in the lower left hand corner to ensure proper orientation when viewing. Do not send masters of your slides. Send duplicate copies in a plastic slide sheet for their protection. Please make every effort to ensure that your artwork is properly and accurately photographed. In case of video or performance based works, include a VHS duplicate of the works [*not required but helpful are 2 to 3 8 x 10 colour photocopies of your strongest works].

5. Include a corresponding numbered list of slides, indicating title, medium, size and year of execution.

6. If relevant, include a selection of support material, such as copies of recent reviews or publications featuring your art work.

7. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope with proper return postage. Note: Please use standard white paper. Never send original artwork. Please use presentation folders - proposals that are bound or placed in three-ring binders are difficult to handle. Please address your exhibition proposal to:

As per standard gallery practice, the Orillia Museum of Art & History will strive to develop an exhibition schedule approximately two years in advance. This enables OMAH to fulfill private, provincial and federal requirements and provide adequate planning time to mount significant exhibitions that are supported through educational programs and public relations.

The proposals will be reviewed on a bi-monthly basis.

Please copy and paste this form onto your computer, fill it out and return it to the museum with a digital image of your submission.
