Recreating the Past: Ancient Art with a Modern Twist
Summer Art Camps Ages 7-10

Week One: Prehistoric Art
July 14, 16, 18
In this three - day program campers will be introduced to various types of prehistoric art, and will have the opportunity to create their own cave painting on stone using natural and synthetic materials. Other activities may include, sculpture carving and clay drawing. |

Week Two: Egyptian Art
July 21, 23, 25
In this three-day program, campers will be introduced to various types of ancient Egyptian art, and will have the opportunity to create their own Egyptian mummy mask using plaster and acrylic paint (2-day process). Other activities may include, making hieroglyphic nameplate pendants and frieze painting. |

Week Three: Roman Art
August 4, 6, 8
In this three-day program, campers will be introduced to various types of ancient Roman art, and will have the opportunity to create Roman style mosaics. Other activities may include tessellations and relief sculpture. |

Week Four: Medieval Art
August 18, 20, 22
In this three-day program, campers will be introduced to various types of medieval art, and will have the opportunity to create a gargoyle sculpture. Other activities may include, crayon etching and stained glass.

Summer Art Camps Ages 11-13

Week One: Prehistoric Art
July 15, 17
In this two-day afternoon program, campers will be introduced to various types of pre-historic art, and will have the opportunity to create their own cave painting as well as carve a sculpture in the style of our ancient ancestors. |

Week Two: Egyptian Art
July 29, 31
In this two-day afternoon program, campers will be introduced to various types of ancient Egyptian art, and will have the opportunity to create their own Egyptian mummy mask (2-day process) as well as a hieroglyphic nameplate pendant. |

Week Three: Roman Art
August 12, 14
In this two day afternoon program, campers will be introduced to various types of ancient Roman art, and will have the opportunity to create Roman style mosaics and unique tessellations. |

HOW TO REGISTER
Complete one registration form per child.
Payment of applicable fees to the Orillia Museum of Art & History guarantees reservation. Due to demand, participants are not considered registered until fees are fully paid.
Medical information must be completed for registration to be deemed complete and acceptable
Register early! All programs have limited enrollment.
We reserve the right to cancel any program or day if the minimum number of participants required has not registered by the Wednesday before the week the program is offered.
Refunds will be issued for cancelled courses. Refunds are not issued if a child misses a program or day unless it is for emergency reasons. Illness is not considered an emergency reason.
WHAT TO WEAR
All participants should wear old clothes or bring a shirt in which to paint. Art workshops can be messy! We try to use water-soluble media, but cannot guarantee that clothing will not get stained.
SNACKS and LUNCH
Snacks and lunch are NOT provided. Children should bring both and something to drink. There will be breaks during the session.
BEHAVIOUR
We try our best to ensure art workshops and day camps are a positive experience for everyone. Participants will be exposed to a wide range of activities that encourage sharing and co-operation, Participants are expected to be courteous and respectful at all times for everyone’s enjoyment. |
