OMAH's Research Room

OMAH’s Research Room is located on the main floor in the clock tower, and is wheelchair accessible. In the Research Room, visitors can access OMAH’s archival collection and research resources.

The Research Room contains material relating to all aspects of Orillia and area’s history.

The collection includes:


  Genealogical information such as obituaries, notices of birth, deaths, marriages and family histories.
  Books on local history, area directories, local authors and reference books pertaining to Canadian antiques and artifacts
  Historical and topographical maps.
  General history files on Orillia and area businesses, industries, celebrities and events.
  A set of indexed scrapbooks spanning 50 years.


We encourage visitors to the Research Room to use our public computer terminals. The terminals provide access to our own database of thousands of historic photographs and artifacts, as well as online search genealogical ancestry resources.


Our staff is happy to answer any questions you may have or to point you in the right direction if you are just starting your research.

We also offer research services to those patrons who are unable to visit OMAH in person.
