The Orillia Museum of Art & History is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am-4pm, Sundays 1-4pm. Admission is a suggested $5 or by museum membership. Donations are appreciated to help us continue our mandate of inspiring creativity and celebrating history.
Customize your visit to the museum with a private tour or hosting a birthday party!
Option 1: Historical Building Tour
In this tour option, your group will explore the rich and varied history of the Sir Sam Steele Memorial Building. Learn about our building’s early years as a customs house, its eventual
transition to the Orillia Museum of Art & History, and everything in between! Our expert guide will share information and stories while giving you a behind the scenes look at this fascinating building, including a glimpse inside our historic clock tower!
Option 2: Art Appreciation Tour
If you have a group that is interested in art or would like to learn more about it, then this tour option is for you! Our expert guide will take you through 2-3 current exhibitions and discuss thethemes, techniques, and history related to the works on display. No knowledge of art is necessary for this tour, just come ready to experience amazing artworks and learn something new!

Cost per participant: $7.08+ HST ($8.00 HST included)
Booking procedure: All tours must be booked 2 weeks prior to desired tour date. Bookings can be done by emailing the Community and Visitor Engagement Coordinator at 705-326-2159 ext. 103 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
Cancellation policy: Tours must be cancelled at least 48 hours before start of tour.
Birthday Parties at OMAH
Book your child's party at OMAH! Give your child a fun-filled day of art where party-goers can take home all their own work! Birthday parties run 2 hours total (one hour for art-making, and one hour for party). Options are suitable for ages 5 – 14.
Program option 1: Creative Canvas Painting
Get ready to be creative and make an exciting, original painting on canvas! Party-goers will practice colour mixing and painting techniques with our artist-instructor before creating their own artwork to take home!
Program option 2: Amazing Clay Animals
Try your hand at working with clay in this exciting program option! Party-goers will learn fun clay sculpting techniques taught by an artist-instructor, and will use these techniques to create an animal of their choosing!
All parties take place in the Dorothy McDonald Creative Studio, third floor at OMAH
$150 for party (up to 12 children, each additional child at a cost of $10 for a maximum of 20 children) No HST
What OMAH provides: space, artist-instructor, all art materials
What you provide: cups, plates, napkins, drinks, cake and other party supplies
Parties must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance by contacting the Community and Visitor Engagement Coordinator at email@example.com or by calling 705-326-2159 x 103. Birthday parties must be pre-paid for at the time of booking. Birthday Party cancellations must be received in writing. If a cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to a party there will be a 50-percent refund. If a part cancellation is made more than two weeks before the party, a 75-per-cent refund will be given.
OMAH Backpack Tours
Rent an OMAH Backpack to engage your children with the museum in a fun and interactive way.
Each backpack is filled with a variety of hands-on games that relate to art and history! Backpacks even include a scavenger hunt and a storybook. Children can wear the backpack around the museum and use its contents to help explore the exhibitions. Each backpack is unique!
$5 per backpack or free with a family membership.
