SUMMARY:OWL PEN REVISITED
DESCRIPTION:Owl and Snake”\, 11.5”x16.75”\, oil based ink on Awagami Kitakata Paper\, 2022. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Owl Pen Revisited is inspired by the work of Lucille Oille’s relief prints from the book “The Owl Pen”. Oille was a Canadian artist and printmaker (1912-1977) who lived in Oro Medonte in the 1940’s\, creating images for the book “The Owl Pen” by Kenneth Wells. This exhibition will also feature current rural landscapes and places of personal significance. \n  \nGillian Lowry is a multidisciplinary artist working in printmaking (relief printing and screen printing)\, digital illustration\, painting and sculpture. She draws on the natural world to inform her work\, creating landscapes and incorporating animals and birds which appear to her as spiritual messengers. Showcasing photographs of iconic places in Orillia as they once were while contrasting with current photographs by Samantha Vessios\, puts history into context. History is all around us and exists within our everyday lives. We need to remember our history through our stories and preservation of objects and historic buildings. Learn about iconic places as they were “then” and what they are “now.”
