A multi-media Docu-musical performance with 14 original songs, stories, vintage photographs, historical documents and artifacts written and performed by Anne Walker.

Rural people created Canada - a cultural debt that is often forgotten and paved over today. The records of the Women's Institute provide an important lens into Canada's rural past. For over a century this organization has given rural women a voice and been a significant presence in the community.

Anne Walker

Following the work of the women, singer-songwriter Anne Walker captures the spirit and vernacular of rural Canada - celebrating and preserving the stories and history of a way of life that is disappearing.

Walker's familial roots run generations deep in the central Ontario village of Coulson. The personal connection to the community and to the women of the Women's Institute - including her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother - make this performance a moving and intimate tribute. "The Coulson Women's Institute" is a loving and deeply human historical document. Regular tickets are $15, Women's Institute Members $10. Tickets available at OMAH, come in or call us at 705-326-2159.
