Substratum is a series of new mixed media paintings by Canadian Artist Patti Agapi. This series focuses on the artist’s fascination with texture and layers and furthers her on-going exploration of the theme of ‘transformation’ in her work. Each piece manifests the concept of psychological growth/change and how we become different versions of self with time and circumstance. Underneath layers of feeling and living we hold past personas close and parallel, stubbornly seeping through to influence present actions and choices.
