Elemental Mariposa: The Main Street is the third and final installment in the Elemental Mariposa exhibition series, celebrating Orillia’s community through interpretation of the evolution of the downtown core. Orillia’s downtown is not just made up of buildings and businesses, but the people that own, work, shop and participate in the culture that downtown’s create.
This exhibition will showcase the pivotal changes that were seen on Mississaga Street, as the downtown businesses transformed to accommodate the needs of the community. Business owners were not merely merchants, but also leaders and innovators in Orillia’s history, leaving a lasting impact on the communities that they served. From B. Frank Stewart Photography, Carter’s Restaurant and Orillia House Hotel, to Frost Jewellery, Shangri-La Gardens and G.A. Anderson Limited, take a walk down Mississaga Street, see how much has changed and hear stories about the people who the main street what it is today!
