Annually, high-school teachers from multiple schoolboards are invited to submit work on behalf of their student artists.

Student artists are encouraged to create work that addresses issues meaningful to them.  Some of the works explore:

  • identity
  • mixed messages from the media
  • what the future holds
  • environment issues

The arts curriculum at the high-school level is based on four central ideas – developing creativity, communicating, understanding culture, and making connections.  The knowledge and understanding of design concepts are explored through projects that develop critical and creative skills.  OMAH, as a community partner, is an important resource for the students as well as the schools.  We are a model of how knowledge and skills acquired through the study of the arts curriculum can relate to life beyond the school.  As a mentor, we strive to enrich the educational experience.

Works of art have been created by students representing:

Orillia Secondary School

Haliburton Highlands Secondary School

Huntsville High School

Simcoe Alternative Secondary School – Midland

St Teresa’s Catholic Secondary School

Eastview Secondary School

IE Weldon Secondary School
