The Mariposa Gala
We are proud to present The Mariposa Gala in support of Orillia Museum of Art & History’s children’s programs. Following the success of last year’s wine and cheese event, we will be joined again by sommelier and certified fromager Andre Derrick from Vineland Estates Winery. He has chosen a wonderful selection Vinelands wines paired with fine Canadian cheeses featuring some of our local food purveyors to compliment the wine in the company of friends, colleagues and family. We will have a live painting event with David Beckett where the art created will be featured in the evenings’ silent auction with live music by The Jazz Byrds.
With your help our goal is to expand our community outreach in partnership with local and regional charities by providing transportation, meals and opportunities for children and youth to participate in programming that would otherwise not be available to them. These specialized programs support children’s development and youth’s portfolio development for admission to post-secondary education.
Andre Derrick is a master at food and wine synergy. He is Vineland Estates Winery's sommelier, certified fromager, prud'homme beer sommelier, accredited whisky ambassador and certified expert in the service & sale of scotch. His lifelong love of learning has propelled him to sip, gulp and nibble at life from many different perspectives and international experiences.
We are honoured to present Rustica Pizza Vino, R' Cottage , Shine Juice Bar & Cafe, and Sanafir Restaurant as our featured restaurants. Each restaurant is making special canapés that will delight your senses. These food purveyors are celebrated for their unique ability to create culinary masterpieces. The evening also features custom-made truffles by Kathy's Kakes.
Jazz Byrds perform beautiful melodies accompanied by sophisticated harmonies making for a special listening experience. Myrelle Byrd, flute, John Weston, guitar, and Mike Milner, bassist, compliment each others styles.
We look forward to seeing you on May 26th at Lakehead University Orillia, Simcoe Hall building. Together, we can help at risk children and youth experience the joy of creating, learning and growing in a safe fun space.
