OMAH’s Board brings together community leaders who share a commitment to strengthening arts, culture, and local history in Simcoe County.

The Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) is pleased to invite applications and nominations for three positions on its Board of Directors as part of this year’s election cycle.
Serving on the Board is an opportunity to help shape the future of arts, culture, and community connection across Orillia and Simcoe County. Directors play a meaningful role in guiding the organization’s strategic direction, strengthening sustainability, and ensuring OMAH continues to be a welcoming and inclusive space where creativity, learning, and local history thrive.
Term of Service
Successful candidates will serve a three year term, with the option to extend for an additional three years if desired.
Areas of Expertise
This year, the Board is seeking individuals who bring strong professional expertise, if in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Fundraising
- Legal affairs and governance
- Human resources
- Business management
- Financial/ Accounting experience
Candidates who bring strong community networks or experience supporting fundraising initiatives are especially encouraged to apply.

Directors contribute their expertise to initiatives that celebrate culture, expand access to arts and history, and create meaningful experiences for residents and visitors. Board members build valuable community relationships, strengthen their strategic and governance skills, and support programming that enriches the cultural fabric of the region.
Board Role and Time Commitment
The full Board meets once per month for approximately two hours. Meetings are held in person during the spring, summer, and early fall, and move to an online format during the winter months or at the discretion of the Chair. Directors are expected to review materials in advance and come prepared to actively participate in discussion and decision making. Committee participation and occasional involvement in events or initiatives may also be requested based on interest and expertise.
Director Responsibilities
Directors are entrusted with supporting strong governance and ensuring the long term success of the organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Acting in the best interests of the museum with integrity, sound judgment, and respect for confidentiality
- Attending meetings regularly, preparing in advance, and engaging in meaningful discussion
Who Should Apply
OMAH welcomes nominations from individuals living in the City of Orillia and throughout Simcoe County who are motivated to contribute their time, knowledge, and leadership in support of a strong and sustainable cultural organization.
