Summer Camp FAQ
What can my child expect at OMAH Summer Camp?
Each week is packed with creative art projects in our studio, interactive gallery activities, and outdoor adventures. Campers explore history and art in engaging, hands-on ways both inside the Museum and around the community.
Who are the camp instructors?
Our camp team is made up of experienced leaders with a passion for art, history, and working with children.
All leadership staff:

Complete formal interviews and reference checks

Undergo Vulnerable Sector Screening
-
Hold Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification
-
Have experience working with children of various ages and abilities
Camp leaders are supported by responsible volunteers and Museum staff to ensure safe, high-quality supervision throughout the week.
Where is drop-off and pick-up?
Drop-off and pick-up take place in the courtyard behind OMAH.
Guardians must:

Sign campers in each morning

Sign campers out each afternoon
-
Present photo ID at pick-up
OMAH will not release a child to anyone not listed on the Registration Form or Safe-Release List.
Campers over the age of 10 may sign themselves in and out with written guardian permission and a completed Independent-Release form.
What if my child is feeling unwell?
If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home.
OMAH follows the guidelines of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU). If guidelines change prior to camp, families will be notified.
If your child will be absent, please notify us before 9:00am by leaving a voice message at 705-326-2159 x106.
What should I pack for lunch?
Campers will have:

Two snack breaks

One lunch break
Please pack:

Nut-free lunches

Litter-less containers
-
A reusable water bottle
What should my child wear?
Please dress for creativity and outdoor play!
Campers should wear:

Clothes that can get messy (paint, plaster, etc.)

Good walking shoes

A hat
-
Weather-appropriate clothing

Sun protection
What should NOT be brought to camp?
Please leave at home:

Phones

Tablets
-
iPods

Toys or personal gadgets
OMAH is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please label all belongings.
Will campers leave the Museum?
Yes. During the week we may visit:

Victoria Park
-
Couchiching Beach Park
Campers may participate in outdoor play or art activities.
If weather is inclement, activities will move indoors.
During beach visits:

Swimming is permitted only when lifeguards are present

We monitor swim advisories through SMDHU
If you do not want your child to swim, please notify camp coordinators before camp begins and alternative arrangements will be made.
What if my child requires medication at camp?
If medication needs to be administered:

A Request to Administer Medication (RAM) form must be completed
-
Medication must be in its original container
-
The container must have the camper’s name
-
Medication must not be expired
Medication will be stored securely and administered according to the completed form.
Can OMAH support campers with special needs?
We welcome campers with special needs. However:

OMAH cannot provide a 1:1 staff-to-child ratio
-
Campers may attend with an adult support person at no additional charge
Please contact the Operations Coordinator prior to registration to discuss your child’s specific needs so we can determine whether camp is a good fit.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to:

Refund schedule:

14+ days before program start: Full refund
-
Less than 14 days before start: Non-refundable
If OMAH cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
No refunds are provided for missed days.
Refunds for medical reasons may be considered with a doctor’s note submitted before or during the week of absence.
Programs, prices, and policies are subject to change without notice.
