Adopt an Artefact: Preserve the Stories that Shape Us
Every object tells a story — of artistry, innovation, and the people who helped shape Orillia’s history. Through OMAH’s Adopt an Artefact program, you can play a direct role in preserving these stories for generations to come.
Your adoption supports the conservation, storage, and long-term preservation of artifacts and archival materials featured in our Gordon Lightfoot exhibition and related collections. Each item in the adoption catalogue has been carefully selected for its historical significance and conservation needs — from Gordon’s 12-string guitar to archival photographs, handcrafted toys, and early Orillia artifacts.
When you adopt an artefact, you’re not purchasing it — you’re helping ensure it remains cared for, studied, and shared with the community for years to come.
How It Works
- Explore the Catalogue
Browse our online catalogue to discover objects awaiting adoption — each accompanied by a photo, story, and conservation need. - Choose Your Artefact
Select the artifact that speaks to you. Once an item has been adopted, it will be marked as “Adopted” in the catalogue. - Support Its Care
Your donation goes directly toward the artifact’s preservation — from specialized archival housing to professional conservation treatments.
Please contact development@orilliamuseum.org with any questions you may have.
Every adoption tier makes an impact, helping us protect the stories of our shared heritage.
Each donor receives a digital certificate of adoption, recognition on OMAH’s website and label signage, and updates once the object’s conservation is complete.
