Please join local artist Carolyn M. Boyd for another exciting painting program where participants will experiment with water-mixable oils over acrylic paint. Participants will paint a lovely landscape scene. This painting was done en plein air at Peck Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park.

 

This acrylic over oil workshop is geared towards beginner students, although there will be something in this class for any art enthusiast to enjoy. There will be lots of interesting demonstrations. Participants will learn a variety of useful acrylic and oil painting tips and techniques and practice their brushstrokes, before they start working on their painting. By the end of the workshop, students will have a beautiful completed masterpiece to take home and enjoy!

All materials are included.

February 28th
 
In the first class, Carolyn M. Boyd will teach you how to paint a beautiful and serene landscape scene in acrylic.
March 7th:
 
In the second class, Carolyn M. Boyd will teach you how to paint oil over acrylic. Participants will have fun experimenting with oil paint, and compete their painting.
Water-mixable oils offer the benefits of traditional oil paints, such as slower drying time and color quality, while being easier to clean up.

Carolyn studied fine art at Georgian College and North Light Art School, and has exhibited in OMAH’s International Women’s Day Exhibition. She is a landscape artist passionate about depicting the wondrous beauty found in nature. Participants will leave with their very own oil and acrylic landscape painting.

About the Instructor:

Carolyn M. Boyd is a Canadian landscape artist brushing with passion and enthusiasm from the magnificent shores of Kempenfelt Bay, Georgian Bay, Muskoka and beyond. She studied fine art at Georgian College and North Light Art School, and has a certificate in the Fundamentals of Fine Art. Carolyn teaches private art classes and group workshops. Her paintings are in collections across Canada and globally. Carolyn is the recipient of the 2024 Artist Beyond Barriers Award. She volunteered at the MacLaren Art Centre, and currently volunteers at the Barrie Art Club, Women’s Art Association of Canada, and elsewhere.

Carolyn’s paintings have been exhibited in the Barrie Art Club, Dundas Valley School of Art, MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie City Hall First Floor Gallery, Orillia Opera House, Women’s Art Association of Canada, Hibernation Arts Gallery, Quest Art School & Gallery, Stack Gallery, Muskoka Discovery Centre, Double Door Studio and Gallery, and other locations. She’s displayed her paintings in over 250 art shows, events, and galleries. Her artwork is showcased in a book, several magazines, a few calendars and a variety of other publications, and a documentary film.

She’s a member of the Barrie Art Club, MacLaren Art Centre, Artists in Canada, North Simcoe Arts, Quest Art School & Gallery, Women’s Art Association of Canada, Women’s Art Association of Hamilton, Art Gallery of Ontario, Kawartha Art Gallery, Muskoka Arts & Crafts, and Wasaga Society of the Arts.
