WATERCOLOUR: MIXED MEDIA METHOD

Drawing inspiration from the watercolour painting Tuscan Road, by Doris McCarthy which has been in OMAH’s permanent collection since 2017, students will explore different watercolour techniques before completing their final project.

PRIMARY (GRADES 1-3)

Younger students will examine simple and fun techniques with watercolour such as wet on wet painting, stickers to create negative space and wax resists.

JUNIOR (GRADES 4 – 6)

In this program students will practice a variety of watercolour techniques, explore colour theory, and will observe the reactions between other mediums and watercolour paints. In their final artworks, students will be challenged to be creative using a mixed-media method.

INTERMEDIATE (GRADES 7 – 8)

This program will focus on practicing watercolour techniques and will explore the complexities of colour theory. Students will experiment combining watercolours with other materials and will employ their discoveries in a final mixed-media composition.
