PAINT LIKE PACHTER: POP-ART

This program introduces students to works of art by Canadian artist Charles Pachter (b.1942), in particular, the iconic imagery of the moose used in the Pop Art style, which Charles is well-known for. It also introduces students to the Pop-Art movement and will encourage conversation about which popular culture items we might see in artwork today. After a brief history lesson
on Charles’ artwork and the Pop-Art movement, students will create their own Pop-Art style
landscape painting using different techniques such as painting, masking, sponging, stencilling and (for grades 7-8) mark-making. Audience: Recommended for grades 1-8.
